Have you ever wondered how Kim Kardashian gets a flawless finish and highlight underneath her eyes and below her contour? One word: baking.
Baking refers to letting translucent powder sit on your face for roughly five to ten minutes. This allows for the translucent powder to set your foundation and concealer so that there is no creasing in your makeup. After the translucent powder has set simply sweep the powder off of your face for a flawless finish.
Baking originally began in the drag community but since highlighting and contouring has become a trend, baking has become the perfect finish. This technique can often be confused by highlighting with the main difference being highlighting uses shimmer and baking is matte.
Steps to baking the perfect face:
- Apply Concealer to your under eye area
It should be applied from underneath your eye to the apples of your cheek and blended with a damp beauty sponge.
- Add translucent powder
Using the same damp beauty sponge as in the previous step, dip the sponge into the loose powder and pat it on to the under eye area, chin, middle of the forehead, bridge of your nose and under the hollows of your cheek bones. You should use a generous amount of powder so that it looks caked on. Let this sit for ten minutes.
- Brush it Off
Using a powder/fluffy brush sweep off the powder for a flawless finish.
If you find that the baking is leaving skin dry spritz on a setting spray to create a dewier look. You will no longer have to worry about creases in your makeup or oily looking foundation and concealer all thanks to the wonderful baking technique!
